NEW DELHI (CNI)--India has reduced antidumping duties (ADDs) on styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) imports from South Korea and Japan, but has increased ADD on supplies imported from the US.

The Finance Ministry announced the revised tariffs in accordance with the final findings of the antidumping authority’s (ADA) sunset review of ADDs that were levied in August 1999 and later modified in May 2000.

The ADA had submitted its recommendations to the Finance Ministry on 27 July. The revised tariff is denominated in dollars per kilogram whereas the original tariff was expressed in dollars per tonne.

There will now be a duty of $ 0.0689/kg ($68.9/tonne) on imports from South Korea, as compared to the earlier rate of $204/tonne. Japanese SBR imports are now subject to a levy of $0.1045/kg ($104.5/tonne), down from the earlier levy of $156.93/tonne.

Imports from the US are to be subject to an ADD of $0.197/kg ($197/tonne), up from the previous rate of $189.89/tonne.

The changes came into effect on 28 September.

SBR is produced in India by Apar Ltd and Apcotex Lattices. A third manufacturer, Synthetics & Chemicals Ltd, stopped manufacturing several years back.
