In terms of sales volumes, the company’s domestic sales reached 2.33m tonnes during the first eight months of 2004, a 12.6% increase over 2003 levels.?xml:namespace>
On the domestic market, top selling products were polyethylene (PE), with sales of 276 300 tonnes; ammonia, with sales of 372 000 tonnes and ethylene oxide (EO), with sales of 131 000 tonnes during the eight-month period.
The company produced 7.02m tonnes of petrochemicals during the first eight months of the year, a 3.3% increase over 2003 production levels.
Pemex also said that it posted a positive trade balance in petrochemicals products of $125.8m. The company’s exports totalled $147.9m, with imports of $22.1m during the period.
