NEW DELHI (CNI)--India’s Jubilant Organosys Ltd (JOL) is expanding its pyridine and pyridine derivatives production in a bid to take over global leadership in the business.
The company wants to become the world’s largest manufacturer of pyridine within next three years. Reilly Industries of the US is the currently considered the world’s largest producer, followed by JOL.
JOL is planning to set up two multi-purpose plants at its production complex at Gajraula in Uttar Pradesh to produce pyridine derivatives and other chemicals for the pharmaceuticals sector.
JOL currently has the capacity to produce 23 500 tonne/year of pyridines and derivatives. It manufactures six main pyridine bases, four pyridine salts, three cyanopyridines, 19 other pyridines and two pyridine-based vitamins, nicotinamide and nicotinic acid.
The company currently produces 41 pyridine-derived fine chemicals that are used by both overseas and domestic companies as building blocks for 95 active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and 11 agrochemicals.
The company has 31 fine chemicals, either under development or awaiting commercial manufacture.
JOL is India’s largest speciality chemicals company. It operates in the fields of pharmaceuticals & life science chemicals, performance chemicals, organic intermediates, agrochemicals and animal nutrition products.
It also has extensive manufacturing facilities at Nanjangud near Mysore in Karnataka, Vadodara in Gujarat and Nira in Maharshtra.
