Ticona seeks15% price hike on European UHMW-PE

LONDON (CNI)--Ticona, the technical polymers business of German chemicals group Celanese, will be seeking a 15% increase from 15 November in the European price of its GUR ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE), it announced Monday.

 

Current price levels were not revealed.

 

The general increase in costs such as energy and logistics was blamed by Ticona for the proposed price hike.

 

Ticona’s worldwide capacity for GUR is currently 70 000 tonne/year, following a recent expansion in Oberhausen, Germany, and the opening of a new plant in Bishop, Texas.
