PARIS (CNI)--Interpol has appointed a co-ordinator for its newly-established bio-terrorism programme.
He is Adrian Baciu, a senior officer with the Romanian police and former head of a unit specialising in nuclear, biological and chemical weapons.
With only a small number of countries formally banning the development of pathogens into weapons, the programme will identify gaps in national laws to advise police officers investigating bio-terrorist threats worldwide.
The project is staging an international conference at the organisation’s headquarters in Lyon, France, on 28 February 28 and 1 March, involving senior law enforcement officials and other specialists.
