Nigel D. T. Andrews

Nigel D. T. Andrews has been elected non-executive chairman at Great Lakes Chemical Corp. Mr. Andrews had served on the company’s board as an independent director since 2000, most recently as chair of the compensation and incentive committee and as a member of the governance and nominating committee. He is a veteran of the General Electric Company (GE), holding senior executive roles in GE Plastics and GE Capital.

Tim Brossard

Tim Brossard has joined Matheson Tri-Gas Inc. as Enable technical service manager. He will be responsible for providing technical assistance to distributors in the company’s new Enable distributor development program. Mr. Brossard has more than 20 years of specialty gas experience. He holds a BS in chemistry from Western Illinois University and an MBA in marketing from Lewis University, Ill.

James V. Caggiano

James V. Caggiano has been named vice president of sales and marketing at Dendreon Corp. He will be responsible for Dendreon’s marketing, sales and other commercially related activities, focusing initially on the company’s investigational lead product. Mr. Caggiano comes from Abbott Laboratories, where he was vice president of US sales and marketing for the Abbott vascular devices division.

Nicholas Conti

Nicholas Conti has been appointed vice president of corporate development at Orchid BioSciences Inc. Mr. Conti has more than a decade of global life sciences and chemical industry experience in business development, acquisition of new products and technologies and strategy planning and implementation. He most recently served as vice president of R&D and business operations at Becton Dickinson and Company.

John J. Gallagher

John J. Gallagher has been named acting CEO at Great Lakes Chemical Corp. Prior to joining the company in 2001, Mr. Gallagher was vice president and chief financial officer at UOP LLC, a joint venture of Dow Chemical Company and Honeywell International.

Stuart Grant

Stuart Grant has been appointed chief financial officer at Serono. He will also become a member of the Serono executive management board. Mr. Grant has more than 25 years of financial and business management experience in the high-technology sector, in both the corporate and field environments. He has held a number of financial and general management roles with increasing responsibility since joining Serono in 1995.

Thomas F. Kinneman

Thomas F. Kinneman has been named president at Image Polymers, a joint venture business between Avecia and Mitsui Chemicals. He will focus on new product and sales development. Most recently, Mr. Kinneman was global business manager at Cabot Corp. He has an MBA from the School of Business Administration at the University of Connecticut.

John Lucas

John Lucas has joined Metabasis Therapeutics Inc. as vice president of intellectual property. Mr. Lucas has experience in managing intellectual property and in providing legal assistance to biotech-nology companies. Prior to joining the company, he was vice president and chief patent officer at TransForm Pharmaceutical. Mr. Lucas received his PhD in molecular genetics from Ohio State University and his JD from George Washington University Law School.

Vikram Luthar

Vikram Luthar has been elected vice president and treasurer at Archer Daniels Midland Company. Mr. Luthar has had several years of treasury and international finance experience. He most recently served as regional treasurer at General Motors Corp.’s Asia Pacific operations in Singapore. Mr. Luthar has a BT in aerospace engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Arthur C. Martinez

Arthur C. Martinez has been named lead director at International Flavors and Fragrances Inc. (IFF). Mr. Martinez is currently the chairman of IFF’s nominating and governance committee.

Susan Meineke

Susan Meineke has joined Metabasis Therapeutics Inc. as senior director of human resources. Ms. Meineke has spent more than 20 years in the field of human resources, mostly with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Prior to joining the company, she was director of human resources at Pfizer. Ms. Meineke received her BA in sociology from the University of California at Berkeley.

Timothy E. Morris

Timothy E. Morris has been appointed vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Vivus Inc. His responsibilities will include oversight of the company’s finance, accounting, investor relations and corporate communications. Mr. Morris joins the company with more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance and operations. Most recently, he served as a member of the office of the president, chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance and administration at Questcor Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Jeffrey Potrzebowski

Jeffrey Potrzebowski, vice president of financial planning and investor relations at Great Lakes Chemical Corp., has been named acting chief financial officer. Mr. Potrzebowski joined the company in 1993 as director of internal audit.

Russell L. Skibsted

Russell L. Skibsted has been named vice president and chief financial officer at Hana Biosciences Inc. Mr. Skibsted most recently served as chief financial officer and portfolio management partner of Asset Management Company. “His extensive financial management experience, strategic planning skills and leadership will be outstanding assets to Hana as we enter a period of rapid growth,” says Mark J. Ahn, CEO and President.

James T. Breedlove

James T. Breedlove has been appointed vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Praxair Inc. Prior to joining the company, he was senior vice president and general counsel at General Electric equipment services. Mr. Breedlove holds a BA from Harvard College, a JD from Harvard Law School and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Patrick Vazquez

Patrick Vazquez has been elected president of the Drug, Chemical and Associated Technologies Association (DCAT).

John McLaren

John McLaren has joined Akzo Nobel as director of corporate communications.

Brigitte Sheehan

Brigitte Sheehan has been named senior account manager at Surfactants Inc.

Brian Jurcak

Brian Jurcak has joined Univar USA as product manager for the phosphates and phosphoric acid business.

Randy S. Kramer

Randy S. Kramer has been appointed president of Praxair Europe at Praxair Inc., effective January 1. He is currently working with a Praxair integration team in preparing for the recently announced planned purchase of industrial gases assets from Air Liquide. Mr. Kramer joined the company in 1979 and has held positions in procurement, materials and business management and sales.
