HOUSTON (CNI)--DuPont Titanium Technologies said Monday it intends to raise prices of all DuPont titanium dioxide (TiO2) grades sold in North America by $132/tonne effective 1 January or as contracts allow.

It is not clear if customers will accept the proposed increases.

DuPont Titanium cited rising raw material costs as well as capital funding for the price hikes.

Said DuPont in a statement:  “These increases are also supported by macro-economic strength driving very strong global TiO2 demand and extremely high industry capacity utilisation rates, supporting worldwide recovery.”

DuPont Titanium Technologies said the 1 January increase is in addition to its $132/tonne increase announced in September 2004. Other increases are being announced currently elsewhere in the world, the company said.

DuPont Titanium Technologies is one of the world's largest manufacturers of titanium dioxide. DuPont is a science company based in Wilmington, Delaware.
