SHANGHAI (CNI)--China's Yangzi Petrochemical is planning to carry out a turnaround for its cracker in Nanjing, Jiangsu, tentatively in the second quarter of 2005, a company official told CNI on Thursday.

The official said the exact date has not been set yet but the shutdown is expected to last for 20 days. The company will decide next month on the specific turnaround schedule, he added.

Yangzi has a 650 000 tonne/year cracker but its ethylene production is expected to rise above the nameplate capacity to 770 000 tonne/year this year. The company is a subsidiary of Sinopec.
