HOUSTON (CNI)--Dow Haltermann Custom Processing (DHCP) said Monday it will produce biodiesel fuel in a partnership with World Energy.

DHCP is a business unit comprised of operations within Dow Chemical and Johann Haltermann Limited.

DHCP will produce biodiesel at its Houston location exclusively for Chelsea, Massachusetts-based World Energy in North America. DHCP will source the raw materials and produce biodiesel fuel to World Energy's specifications.

The use of biodiesel reduces carbon monoxide emissions by 78% compared to petroleum diesel, according to a 1998 biodiesel lifecycle study sponsored by the US Department of Energy and the US Department of Agriculture.

Dow is based in Midland, Michigan.
