LONDON (CNI--Lukoil’s 150 000 tonne/year Burgas 2 ethylene cracker in Bulgaria will close for over one week in March, a company source told CNI on Thursday.
Operating rates at the cracker were also reported to have been reduced to 80% this month, but it was not clear what may have prompted such a cutback.
Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) production at the site is unlikely to shut along with the cracker as there are substantial stocks, the source reported.
The company has 80 000 tonne/year of polypropylene capacity at Burgas and 85 000 tonne/year of low density polyethylene (ldPE) capacity.
