Celanese seeks to raise solvents, emulsions prices

HOUSTON (CNI)--Celanese Chemicals plans to increase off-list selling prices for all solvent products effective 1 April, the company announced.

 

The company said it also plans to increase the price of all polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) homopolymer, vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE) co-polymers, and acrylic and vinyl-acrylic emulsions in North America.

 

The company did not give a reason for the planned increases. It was not clear if customers would accept the proposed increases.

 

Dallas, Texas-based Celanese said it planned to increase the North American prices of n-butanol and n-butyraldehdye $88.16 (Euro66.80)/tonne - 4 cents/pound.

 

The company said it planned to increase the North American price of isobutanol $88.16/tonne (4 cents/pound). It said it planned to increase the price of isobutanol by $90/tonne in South and Central America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

 

Celanese said it would increase the North American price of n-propanol $88.16/tonne (4 cents/pound). It said it would increase the price of n-propanol by $90/tonne in South and Central America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East; and by Euro70/tonne in Europe.

 

Celanese said it planned to increase the North American price of methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) $551/tonne (25 cents/pound).

 

The company said it planned to increase the North American price of ethyl acetate, n-butyl acetate, isobutyl acetate, n-propyl acetate, isopropyl acetate, methyl isobutyl carbinol, methyl isobutyl ketone and di acetone alcohol $110.20/tonne (5 cents/pound); by $110/tonne in South and Central America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East; and by Euro90/tonne in Europe.

 

Celanese said it also planned to increase the price for all polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) homopolymer and vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE) co-polymers in North America by $66.12/tonne (3 cents/wet pound) effective 15 March, or as contracts allow.

 

Acrylic and vinyl-acrylic emulsions would increase by $132.24/tonne (6 cents/wet pound) effective 15 March or as contracts permit, the company said.
