The investment on a new project house for process intensification in
German specialty chemicals company Degussa said the tools for this work include micro process engineering, intensive dispersion technologies and modular plant and equipment engineering. The project house employs 15 chemists and engineers and is managed by Degussa’s Creavis Technologies & Innovation unit.

Utz-Hellmuth Felcht, Degussa chairman, said: “Project houses are an important tool for strengthening our innovative capabilities and ensuring our ability to compete.”
Process intensification is Degussa’s sixth project house. It follows nanomaterials, biotechnology, catalysis, proferm and functional polymers. Seven business units within Degussa, plus the process technology & engineering service unit and the centre of excellence for catalysis will participate in the new project house. It will also receive contributions from selected partnerships with universities and research institutes.
