HOUSTON (CNI)--Dow Chemical said Wednesday it plans to raise list and off list US prices for its oxygenated solvents products 1 April.

It is not clear if customers will accept the proposed hikes.

Prices of acetic esters, which include n-butyl acetate, isobutyl acetate, isopropyl acetate, and n-propyl acetate are expected to rise $110/tonne.
Acetone derivatives methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK), MIBC, DIBK, and isophorone prices are expected to increase $110/tonne while DIBC prices are planned to rise $220/tonne.
Prices of alcohols n-propanol, n-butanol, isobutanol and 2-ethylhexanol are proposed to increase $88/tonne, while isopropanol prices are expected to increase $66/tonne, propanol PA PM 6719, $90/tonne, isobutanol PM 3101 and isobutanol PM 6212, $53/tonne.
Dowanol and Dowfroth P-Series glycol ethers are expected to raise $66/tonne, with the exception of Dowanol PPH and Dowanol PPH low phenol, which is anticipated to rise $88/tonne.
Proposed increases for E-Series glycol ethers ranged from $88/tonne to $220/tonne.
Said Pat Gottschalk, Dow global business director for solvents and intermediates: “It is critical that we improve our margins so that we are able to compete for key raw materials and obtain the capital to revitalise our units to meet future demand.”
