HOUSTON (CNI)--Maleic anhydride producers are planning to raise prices citing increased demand in the sector as well as rising raw material costs.

A major maleic anhydride producer based in Salt Lake City, Utah has advised customers that it is expected to raise contract prices $110/tonne (5 cents/pound) effective 1 April, CNI has learned.

The company manufactures maleic anhydride at its Gonzalez, Florida facility.

It is not clear if customers will accept the proposed increase.

Previously, Flint Hills Resources, another major maleic anhydride producer, had announced that it intended to increase its maleic anhydride contract prices to $1,653/tonne (75 cents/pound) FOB.
