SINGAPORE (CNI)--Saudi Arabia's Sharq has scheduled a five-day turnaround for its 750,000 tonne/year low linear-density polyethylene (lldPE) plant at Al-Jubail in end-March, an industry source told CNI today.

April supplies from the plant would not be affected due to the turnaround's short duration, the source said.

Sharq is a 50-50 joint venture between Saudi Arabian major Sabic and Japanese consortium Saudi Petrochemical Development Corp (SPDC), whose members include Mitsubishi Chemical and Mitsubishi Corp.

Under the joint venture agreement, SPDC has marketing rights to 300,000 tonne/year of the plant's output, while SABIC gets the remaining quantity.
