HOUSTON (CNI)--Shell Chemical said Tuesday it plans to raise list and off list US prices for its oxygenated solvents products 1 April.

It is not clear if customers will accept the proposed hikes.

Shell Chemical, headquartered in Houston, said it intends to raise off list prices of isopropyl alcohol (IPA), all grades, by $66 (Euro49.48)/tonne (3 cents/pound) and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) by $44/tonne (2 cents/pound).

List and off list prices of methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK), methyl isobutyl carbinol (MIBC), and diacetone alcohol (DAA) are expected to increase $110/tonne (5 cents/pound).

Shell Chemical said it planned to raise all list and off list prices of hexylene glycol $110/tonne (5 cents/pound).

Rosemary Podwin, Shell sales director of solvents, said: “These increases are driven by continued high cost raw materials, supply imbalances and strong global demand. These products remain on 100 % sales allocation.”
