LONDON (CNI)--Dutch chemicals imports rose 12% to Euro2.4bn ($3.23bn) in January this year compared with the same month last year, according to statistics released by the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) on Wednesday.
Exports increased 9% to Euro3.6bn year-on-year in January.
These figures were slightly lower than the average monthly change year-on-year during the second half of 2004. Moreover, product prices for both imports and exports were higher in January this year than the same month last year.

Net trade with countries outside the European Union (EU) experienced a relatively higher growth than trade with countries within the EU, according to CBS. ?xml:namespace>
The value of goods exported to countries outside the EU was 15% higher at Euro4.5bn in January against the year earlier period. Imports from these countries amounted to Euro8.5bn, up 17% from January 2004. Exports to countries within the EU went up 8% to Euro16.7bn.
