Ticona seeks to raise N. American polyester, acetal prices

HOUSTON (CNI)--Celanese’s technical polymers business, Ticona, plans to increase the prices of its polyester, acetal copolymer and long-fibre reinforced thermoplastic products in North America effective 15 April, the company said Tuesday.

 

Ticona, which has its regional headquarters in Florence, Kentucky, gave no reason for the proposed increases. It was not clear whether customers would accept the proposed increases.

 

Ticona said it plans to increase the prices of Celanex polybutylene terehthalate, Riteflex thermoplastic elastomer, Vandar thermoplastic polyester blends and Celcon acetal copolymer (specialty grades only) by $154 (Euro117.72)/tonne (7 cents/pound).

 

Ticona said it plans to increase the price of Impet polyethylene terephthalate by $176 (Euro134.57)/tonne (8 cents/pound).

 

The company said it plans to increase the prices of Celstran long-fibre reinforced plastics (polyurethane and special fibre grades) by $220.40 (Euro168.52)/tonne (10 cents/pound.)

 

The price of Celstran long-fibre reinforced plastics (polypropylene grades) would be increased by $440.80 (Euro337.11)/tonne (20 cents/pound.)
