HOUSTON (CNI)--Dow Chemical plans to raise list and off-list prices for all grades of propionic acid in North America by 3 cents/pound (Euro51.63/tonne) effective 1 May.

A spokesperson for the Midland, Michigan-based company said indicated that the increase would bring the new schedule price to 73 cents/pound.

It was not clear if customers would accept the proposed hikes.

Pat Gottschalk, Dow’s global business director of Solvents & Intermediates, said, “Although many of our solvents are tight due to strong global demand, propionic acid demand continues to outperform our ability to supply. This has been demonstrated by the recent announcement to enforce 100% sales control on these solvents.”
