ALCON Inc. was issued an approvable letter by the FDA for Retaane 15 mg (anecortave acetate suspension), an angiostatic cortisene for the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration.

BARRIER Therapeutics Inc. received a not approvable letter from the FDA for Zimycan (miconazole nitrate, zinc oxide, and white petrolatum ointment) for the treatment of diaper dermatitis complicated by candidiasis. The FDA is requesting additional information on the effects of exposure of infants to miconazole.

BIONOMICS Ltd. will acquire Illiad Chemicals Pty Ltd., a drug discovery company, for $9 million and a potential further $3 million in milestone payments. The acquisition provides Bionomics advanced lead drug candidates in the areas of cancer and central nervous system disorders.

MYRIAD Genetics Inc. has exclusively licensed its technology for a single R-enantiomer of etodolac to Salmedix Inc. in return for a $2.5 million up-front payment.

THREE RIVERS Pharmaceuticals LLC has completed its acquisition of Amphotec/Amphocil (amphotericin B cholesteryl sulfate complex for injection) from InterMune Inc.
