HOUSTON (CNI)--The Chemical Safety and Hazards Investigation Board (CSB) said Friday it will complete most of its BP Texas City, Texas accident probe fieldwork by next week.

Lead investigator Don Holstrom said: “The larger team of five or six investigators will be here through 10 June and we expect at least two investigators will remain at least through early July working on equipment testing.”

“The larger team will return at least a couple of times this summer to conduct a number of follow-up interviews,” he said.

Meanwhile, the CSB’s explosion computer modelling and debris mapping fieldwork will conclude this week, he said.

The CSA and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (Osha) are conducting separate investigations into the 23 March explosion at the BP refinery in Texas City that killed 15 contract workers and injured 170.

BP is conducting its own investigation of the blast.
