HOUSTON (CNI)--German specialty chemicals firm Degussa said Friday it intends to raise prices of all grades of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in North America by $154(Euro125)/tonne (7 cents/pound) “not to exceed current list price” effective 1 July or as contracts allow.

The US arm of Degussa, based in Parsippany, New Jersey, cited “continued escalation of fuel and natural gas prices” for the proposed price hike.

It is not clear if customers will accept the proposed increase.

Degussa said it was also implementing a transportation and energy surcharge for hydrogen peroxide sold in North American based on a basket of leading US energy indices also effective 1 July.
