Taiwan increases April MEG output by 24% to 110,389 tonne

SINGAPORE (CNI)--Taiwan’s monoethylene glycol (MEG) output in April rose 24.4% to 110,389 tonne from March, an official from the Petrochemical Industry Association of Taiwan (PIAT) told CNI on Tuesday.

 

This was because China Man Made Fibre Co (CMMFC) restarted its 300,000 tonne/year MEG plant at Mailiao in early April following a three-week turnaround. MEG imports in April fell 45.8% to 9,661 tonne while exports rose 81.9% to 46,121 tonne.

 

Taiwan’s polyvinyl chloride (PVC) output in April fell 4.9% to 124,224 tonne from March. Imports rose 9.3% to 2,448 tonne while exports fell 31.3% to 57,211 tonne.

 

The country’s acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) production in April fell 22.9% to 89,823 tonne. Imports fell 12.8% to 1,560 tonne and exports fell 31.4% to 73,042 tonne.
