SHANGHAI (CNI)--Thailand’s PTT Pcl has selected Bechtel as the project management consultant (PMC) for its propane dehydrogenation-polypropylene (PDH-PP) project in Mab Ta Phut, a source close to the project told CNI on Wednesday.
The Thai major is to build a PDH unit, which would provide 310,000 tonne/year of propylene feedstock for the 300,000 tonne/year PP unit. The company has selected UOP’s technology for the planned PDH unit.

PTT is to issue two separate tenders for the project. The source said that the company has shortlisted a few contractors to participate in the lumpsum tender for the PDH unit and that an award would be made in the fourth quarter of this year.
He added that PTT was still in talks with HMC Polymers Co on forming a joint-venture for the PP unit. Talks should be concluded in two to three months, he said.
