GUANGZHOU (CNI)--German major Degussa aims to triple its turnover in China to Euro900m ($1.089bn) in 2008, Siegfried Bevern, the company’s Asia Pacific general manager for acrylic moulding compounds told CNI.

Speaking on the sidelines of Chinaplas 2005, he added that this would account for around 10% of its global turnover in 2008.

Last year, the company’s turnover in China was Euro300m. Degussa employs 1,400 people and has 18 offices and production sites in the country. Other than tripling its turnover, the company plans to increase its workforce to approximately 4,500 people in China, said Bevern.

Chinaplas 2005 is a major plastics and rubber exhibition held annually in China. It started on Thursday and ends on Friday.
