Preparations for the restart began on Monday 20 June and carried on through to Wednesday, with production ramping up on Thursday, the official added. Full rates should be achieved in the next few hours. The official also confirmed that MA deliveries have resumed to customers.
The plant has been down for a scheduled shutdown since 1 June and the start-up process was originally due to begin on 17 June. But a strike at the site on 16-17 June resulted in a delay of this restart as well as disruption of MA deliveries.
The strike was in response to BASF’s announcement on 15 June to cease the production of phthalic anhydride and several other products at Feluy due to stagnation in the European market.
