LONDON (CNI)--Degussa said on Thursday it has signed a long-term agreement to provide worldwide sales and technical support for triethylene diamine (TEDA) produced by BASF.

No financial details of the agreement, to be fulfilled by Degussa's Goldschmidt polyurethane (PU) additives business in Essen , Germany, were disclosed.

In addition to Essen, German specialty chemicals company Degussa has service centres in Hopewell, Virginia, Shanghai, China and Sao Paulo, Brazil. It also has fully integrated production sites for stabilisers in Essen and Hopewell.

TEDA, which is sold under the Tegoamin name, is a catalyst used in the manufacturing of many high-grade polyurethane (PUR) foams.

German chemicals group BASF started production of TEDA at its integrated site at Antwerp, Belgium in April this year. Production capacity of the plant was not disclosed.

The company also has production sites for PUR catalysts in Ludwigshafen, Germany and Geismar, Louisiana.
