MEXICO CITY (ICIS news)--Mexican state oil company Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) said on Monday that its installations emerged unscathed by the pass of hurricane Rita.

Pemex said in a statement “there were no damages to the oil infrastructure from Rita so normal activities have been renewed.”

As the storm neared last week, the Mexico City-based company shut down the Ocean Whittington and Hacuriyu V drilling rigs in the northern Gulf of Mexico and evacuated 200 workers. Pemex said shutting the rigs did not affect its crude output because they were involved in exploratory drilling.

The company’s petrochemical infrastructure on the Gulf of Mexico is mostly in the state of Veracruz, well outside Rita’s path.
