LONDON (ICIS news)--Polimeri Europa will restart acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) production at its Mantova, Italy, plant at the weekend (26-27 November), a company official said on Friday.

The producer expects that ABS will be available for sales one week after the 45,000 tonne/year unit has been restarted, the official added.

Polimeri was forced to close the ABS unit unexpectedly on 15 October due to a power cut at the Mantova site. The outage only concerned the Italian producer’s ABS train. Production of all other polymers was unaffected.

Force majeure was declared on ABS about a month ago and the contractual caveat is expected to be lifted once production is back to normal.
