LONDON (ICIS news)--A third European January styrene free delivered barge contract price was agreed at Euro893/tonne FD barge NWE between two major European players, the buyer reported on Friday.

Dual contract settlements on the styrene contract are not unusual, but this is only the second time that three separate barge contracts have been made.

"We wouldn't have done this if we hadn't thought it was responsible and the right thing to do, because the other settlements were set by latex consumers," said the buyer.

The contract, which could not be confirmed immediately by the producer, marked an increase from December's contract range of Euro61-85/tonne or 7-11%.

The settlement was made on Wednesday, following the two which were agreed earlier in the week at Euro904/tonne and Euro915/tonne FD barge. This latest one was agreed between a major producer and a major consumer in the EPS sector.
