HOUSTON (ICIS news)--A US Gulf producer said on Tuesday it had announced a 1 cent/pound (Euro18.27/tonne) increase on toluene and xylene truck/railcar prices, effective 16 January.
The producer added that it has advised customers of the possibility for additional toluene and xylene increases on 1 February.
The supplier said higher spot barge prices for both solvents necessitated the increment for truck/railcar volumes.
January toluene barge prices have increased from a bid/offer range of $1.94-2/gallon free on board (FOB) US Gulf on 19 December to $2.29-2.30/gallon FOB US Gulf on 10 January, a 15-17% increase.
During the same period, January mixed xylene (MX) barge prices have jumped from $2.20-2.25/gallon FOB US Gulf to $2.40-2.45/gallon FOB US Gulf, a 9% increase.
No other increases had been publicly announced by mid-day Tuesday, although other producers said they had not ruled out the possibility of proposing increments for January. Toluene truck/railcar prices were currently assessed at 32-33 cents/pound FOB US Gulf, with xylene truck/railcar prices assessed at 34-35 cents/pound FOB US Gulf.
