HOUSTON (ICIS news)--BASF has submitted a bid for Degussa’s construction chemicals unit, news agency Reuters reported on Friday.

A spokesman for BASF was quoted as saying the company had submitted a bid but declined to disclose the amount.

BASF announced in December it was interested in acquiring the construction chemicals unit. The unit has an estimated value of $2.4bn (Euro2bn).

Spokesmen in the US for BASF and for Degussa both referred questions on the report to their German counterparts, who were not immediately available for comment.
