HOUSTON (ICIS news)--DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise set a February list price on Friday of $1,556/tonne, CIF basis, for exports of bulk acrylonitrile (ACN) to Asia - an increase of $146/tonne compared with last month.

The list price is effective immediately and is valid through 28 February. A new price will be issued every month reflecting the change of all variables involved.

The new price reflects an expected February increase in the price of feedstock chemical grade propylene (CGP), which is poised to jump 5 cents/pound relative to January settlements, according to still ongoing market talks.

To establish the price, DuPont considered the price of raw materials or "ingredients price" plus a premium of $0.105/pound to cover for variable costs and company profit. The ingredients price is based on published US market indices for propylene and ammonia.

Market sources were skeptical of the price because another US supplier is setting minimum levels for Asia sales at $1,400/tonne CIF. A trader said Friday that ACN offers to China at $1,340/tonne CIF have failed to generate buyer interest.
