NEW YORK (ICIS news)--Pompey, France-based Groupe Novasep said on Thursday it sold Rohner to Arques Industries, a German equity investment company.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Groupe Novasep, a fine chemicals company, formed in January 2005 with the merger of Groupe Novasep SAS and Dynamic Synthesis. Rohner, a life science and chemical business, joined Groupe Novasep as part of the merger and was subsequently placed in the Novasep Synthesis business unit.

Historically focused on dyestuffs and graphics chemicals, Groupe Novasep invested in pharmaceutical fine chemicals manufacturing facilities in 2002, as its traditional markets moved to Asia.

Arques said it will restructure Rohner’s plant in Pratteln, Switzerland.

Arques said Rohner’s sales for 2005 exceeded Euro30m, and noted that the company is free of debt.

Rohner is the investment firm’s second acquisition in a specialty chemical business, the first having been the purchase of the SKW metallurgies group in 2004. Arques said it is looking for another acquisition in the sector.
