LONDON (ICIS news)--Spot toluene prices rose on Friday to $720-730/tonne, their highest level for six months, buyers and sellers said.
A trader did an April deal at $730/tonne free on board (FOB) Rotterdam on Thursday evening and this lifted the value of spot toluene on Friday to $720-730/tonne FOB Rotterdam, the highest price heard in the market since September 2005.
The $730 deal was up $25-30/tonne from a trade done on Wednesday.
Spot toluene has been particularly supported by steep gains in the US where April nitration-grade spot toluene prices surged to a five-month high this week on the back of strong premium gasoline cash prices in the US Gulf (USG).
