HOUSTON (ICIS news)--BASF said on Friday it will sell its Micro Flo crop protection chemical business to Arysta LifeScience North America.

The companies did not disclose the financial details of the transaction. The sale will take place by the end of the first quarter, the companies said.

Micro Flo has its headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee and a formulation plant in Sparks, Georgia that produces fungicides, herbicides, insecticides and plant growth regulating agents.

Tokyo, Japan-based Arysta LifeScience said the acquisition is part of its growth strategy. “With this acquisition, Arysta LifeScience gains a solid range of products, a proven US distribution network and a capable and experienced sales force with excellent customer relationships.”

BASF said the divestiture is part of BASF Agricultural Product division’s strategy of continuously evaluating its product portfolio and its asset structure.
