WASHINGTON (ICIS news)--The US Department of Justice (DoJ) confirmed on Friday it is investigating possible antitrust violations in the polyurethanes industry.

DoJ spokeswoman Gina Talamona said: “The antitrust division is investigating the possibility of anticompetitive practices in the polyurethane industry.”
She declined to say how long the investigation has been under way or provide any information about the scope of the inquiry.
DoJ’s formal confirmation of the polyurethanes inquiry comes after several major producers have said they have received subpoenas from DoJ. Dow Chemical, Bayer Material Sciences, BASF Corp and Lyondell have confirmed they have been subpoenaed. All said they are co-operating with the department’s investigation.
