LONDON (ICIS news)--Industrial new orders rose 11.1% in the European Union (EU) in January compared with the same month last year, with increases in all sectors including chemicals, official statistics agency Eurostat said on Wednesday.

Orders for chemicals rose 7.0% in the EU compared with January 2005.
In the euro zone, overall industrial new orders rose 9.7%, with chemicals orders up 7.1%, Eurostat reported.
Compared with December, industrial new orders declined 3.8% in the EU and were 5.9% lower in the euro zone.
Chemicals orders rose 0.2% in the EU in January compared with the previous month, although in the euro zone they fell 0.3%.
