HOUSTON (ICIS news)--BASF will not make an announcement about its tender offer to purchase Engelhard until Monday, company spokesman Glenn Majeski said on Thursday.

German chemical giant BASF made an unsolicited offer of $37 per Engelhard share on 3 January. It has extended its offer three times; the latest extension was set to expire on Friday at 21:00 GMT.

A spokesman for Engelhard, a US specialty chemical and catalysts company, said the offer expires when the market opens on Monday. BASF can extend the offer before then.

Englehard shares were trading at $39.41 early Thursday afternoon.
