LONDON (ICIS news)--The German government said on Tuesday it would introduce blending quotas for biofuels starting in 2007.
The Finance Ministry said in a statement that a biofuels quota on petrol of 2% would apply from 1 January 2007 until 2009. The quota on diesel would be 4.4% over the same period.
European Union (EU) member states are required to draw up measures to introduce 5.75% of biofuels by 2010. The German Finance Ministry said that biofuels subsidies would apply until 2009 based on tax rates applicable from August 2006.
