LONDON (ICIS news)--First quarter operating profits from Orkla were up 8.4% to NKr1.17bn ($191m/Euro151m), helped by growth in its Elkem and Borregaard chemicals and energy businesses, the Norwegian conglomerate said on Friday.
Group pre-tax profits totalled NKr2.21bn, up from NKr1.69bn in the first quarter of 2005. Operating revenues rose 9.5% to NKr14.53bn.
Detailed results from the Elkem and Borregaard business were not immediately available but Orkla said that power trading in the energy activities of these divisions contributed to group profits and sales growth.
