LONDON (ICIS news)--Lurgi has won a contract worth about Euro58m ($74m) to build a 400,000 tonne/year biodiesel plant at Rotterdam, the German engineering company said on Thursday.
Awarded by Biopetrol Rotterdam BV, the plant will be built in the port of Rotterdam and is due for commissioning in July 2007.
In addition to the biodiesel plant, GEA Group member Lurgi will also supply one unit for the production of pharmaceutical-grade glycerine and one unit for the production of free fatty acids, each with an annual capacity of 60,000 tonne.
Lurgi said the Rotterdam plant was the second order from Biopetrol Rotterdam. Last autumn, Swiss parent company Biopetrol AG commissioned Lurgi to build a biodiesel plant in Rostock, Germany.
The latest Biopetrol order brings to more than Euro550m the total value of orders won by Lurgi in the first and the second quarter of the current financial year.
