LONDON (ICIS news)--ABB Lummus Global will provide the technology for the cracker planned by Saudi Chevron Phillips at Al Jubail in Saudi Arabia, the engineering firm said on Wednesday.
The project will combine ABB's pyrolysis and ethylene recovery technologies with its olefins conversion technology (OCT) to produce 1.165m tonnes/year of net ethylene and more than 450,000 tonnes/year of propylene, using mostly ethane and propane feeds with a minimal amount of liquid feeds, the company said.
No ABB spokesperson was immediately available for further comment.
OCT converts butylenes from the cracker and reacts with ethylene to produce polymer grade propylene.
Saudi Chevron Phillips is a 50:50 joint venture between Saudi Industrial Investment Group (SIIG) and a wholly-owned affiliate of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company.
