In the first significant move in its restructuring programme, paints and coatings manufacturer ICI is to sell its soda ash businesses in the UK and Kenya to Australia’s Penrice for around £90m. The company has also agreed to sell its liquid fertiliser business to Norsk Hydro’s UK subsidiary.
Vietnam is to build two crackers in the next 15 years, as part of a $5.3–5.9bn petrochemicals master plan. Its petrochemicals industry will be established before olefins and aromatics complexes are set up, said Vietnam National Chemical Corp.
