SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China’s petrochemical operations were not affected by Typhoon Jelawat, which hit the country’s southern regions on Wednesday night.

The typhoon, the second to hit south China this summer, made landfall between Dianbai County in Guangdong province and Wenchang in Hainan. There was no discernable impact on the south China resin market, said traders.

According to news reports, transport services were disrupted in parts of Hainan and Guangdong. It was not clear when it would be safe for ships to resume operations.

In early May, Typhoon Chanchu, the first tropical storm of this year, hit the Guangdong and forced the evacuation of more than 180,000 people.
