Asia’s booming market

ICIS pricing has launched an Asian ethanol price report in response to increasing demand. The report offers weekly price assessments for 95% purity hydrous ethanol, CFR North East and South East Asia. It also comments on the emerging Asian biofuels market.

‘The addition of an Asian ethanol report to our portfolio is a logical move for ICIS, as we have been reporting on ethanol markets in the US and Europe since the early 1990s’ says Simon Platt, ICIS pricing product development manager.

‘The use of both bioethanol and synthetic ethanol in industrial, beverage, and fuel markets in Asia is booming, and ICIS is determined to be the leading pricing and intelligence provider for these exciting markets.’

Ethanol is most commonly used for fuel-blending purposes, as a raw material for chemical production, and for production of potable alcohol. There are two types of ethanol: fermentation ethanol, made from natural feedstock such as sugarcane, corn, tapioca, and sometimes even potatoes, and synthetic ethanol, where the feedstock is ethylene.

The new Asian ethanol report from ICIS pricing will also give information on Chinese ethanol exports, and the Chinese domestic ethanol market, as well as covering activities in the Indian ethanol market. Details of Brazilian ethanol exports to Asia are also covered.
