SAN ANTONIO, Texas (ICIS news)--Talk of higher fertiliser prices may signal stronger demand for US rail services, a source with rail transportation company CSX said on Monday.

"Everyone is saying things are going to be strong," the source said on the sidelines of the Southwestern Fertilizer Conference in San Antonio. The company uses indications of future prices in its forward operational planning, he said.

The source also noted a wide range of opinion remained about the market outlook.

CSX, based in Jacksonville, Florida, is a major carrier of phosphates.

The conference, which is the biggest annual meeting of the US fertiliser industry in the region, got underway on Monday and concludes on Tuesday.
