SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korea’s Yeochun NCC (YNCC) will expand its butadiene capacity by 50,000 tonnes to 220,000 tonnes/year during its turnaround in October, a company official said on Monday.

The 170,000 tonnes/year butadiene unit will be debottlenecked during a 45-day turnaround which starts from 11 October.

The additional butadiene capacity will help to ease the current short supply, which has seen butadiene spot prices spiral upwards by $150/tonne the past month to breach $1,550/tonne CFR Northeast Asia for August shipments.
