HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Dow Chemical and Izolan said on Tuesday they have created a joint venture (jv) to provide customer-tailored polyurethane systems products to a growing Russian customer base.

The new company, Dow Izolan, will be based in the city of Vladimir, 170 kilometers northeast of Moscow and will employ more than 100, mostly from Izolan’s Vladimir site.

Dow Izolan will combine Dow’s polyurethane systems business with Izolan’s domestic customer focus, product positioning and market experience, the companies said on Tuesday. Dow Izolan hopes to become the market leader in Russia’s polyurethane systems.

The JV plans to construct a new state-of-the-art production plant in the Vladimir area in the next two years to produce polyurethane systems products meeting the needs of the region’s customers.

“This new joint venture….is poised to become the leader in Russia’s polyurethane systems house marketplace,” said general manager of Izolan a designated commercial director for Dow Izolan Mikhail Tsarfin.

Located in Vladimir, Russia, Izolan was established in 1991. Izolan focuses on production and sales of polyurethane systems for rigid and flexible foams. Izolan Systems sales in Russia reached more than 20,000 tonnes in 2005, making Izolan the polyurethanes systems market leader in Russia.
