Alfred Talke has taken full control of its dry bulk joint venture Hoyer-Talke.
The venture, a 50/50 partnership between Talke and Hoyer, was established in 2001 to leverage synergies relating to customers in the chemical sector.
Talke said the acquisition allows it to further extend its dry bulk activities as international demand is growing significantly.
Armin Talke, managing shareholder of Talke Logistic Services, said: 'The joint venture has strengthened our capabilities. Dry bulk activities are a strategic business area in which we grow fast, on a national as well as on an international basis.
'By taking over Hoyer-Talke completely, we are now able to offer our customers silo transport, together with complementary services like storage or handling as integrated one-stop solutions.'
For Hoyer, the sale of its stake in the venture is part of its strategy to re-orientate its business in defined areas. 'Hoyer will concentrate on comprehensive logistics solutions on a global scale,' said a spokeswoman.
'Pure silo road transportation in Europe does not fit in with global orientation,' she added.
The company says that producers are increasingly based overseas, but the markets are in Europe. Therefore, Hoyer wants to offer complete door-to-door concepts worldwide.
Hoyer-Talke operates a fleet of more than 300 dry bulk road tankers as well as approximately 1000 containers. It also stores dry bulk products in silos.
